You can actually rent Anne Hathaway's house in the film.
If you haven't yet watched Anne Hathaway's latest flick The Idea of You, telling the story of 40-year-old divorced mum Solène's relationship with 24-year-old pop star Hayes (Nicholas Galitzine), then cancel your weekend plans. This wonderfully cheesy rom-com is calling.
If you have already devoured the film alongside a tub of ice cream, you may be wondering: where was The Idea of You filmed? Despite being set in a variety of locations including California, New York and the south of France, filming actually took place in a completely different state.

The Idea of You filming locations
Solène's Los Angeles home, the Coachella festival and the holiday home in the south of France were all actually recreated and filmed entirely in Georgia, USA. Specifically, the cities of Atlanta and Savannah.
Solène’s Silver Lake home was actually a house in the Virginia-Highland neighbourhood of Atlanta, which was spotted by the film's production team.
"We found it on Airbnb and selected it for the exterior look, but the interior wasn't right," production designer Amy Williams told House Beautiful. “It was all white and grey without many of the original or interesting details. We spent two months renovating it to bring back the historic age and personality.”
Yes, the property is still available to rent on Airbnb – it can be the base for your Southern USA trip for around £305 per night.

About an hour from the Airbnb you'll find the Atlanta Motor Speedway, which is where Coachella was recreated, and the Parisian scenes were actually shot in Savannah.
Elsewhere, Solène's art gallery is actually The Studio at Candler Park in Atlanta, run by painter Shannon Coppage, and the inside of the New York hotel in the movie is actually The Candler Hotel Atlanta. Stock footage was used for many landscape and exterior shots.
The Idea of You is streaming now on Amazon Prime Video.
