The “pop of red” trend continues to, well, pop.

The It colour for spring appears to be candy apple red. Red flats, red tights, red everything. “Pop of red” isn’t just a trend, it’s a movement. And Jennifer Lawrence has smartly adopted it as her signature hue.

On an outing in New York City, the Oscar winner kept her outfit super casual, pairing a graphic tee with baggy black pants and white sneakers, and accessorising with a baseball cap and sunglasses. But she added a preppy touch with a sweater tied not around her waist but her shoulders, and yep, it’s bright red.

It’s hardly the first time Lawrence has styled herself like a sophisticated stop sign.

For a night out at the theatre, Lawrence wore head-to-toe The Row, including a full-length red coat. Dakota Johnson may be experimenting with a red accent here and there, but Lawrence has the colour on speed dial.

And then also as a…sweater under that same jacket with the same sunglasses? Sure, the outfits seem identical, but the necklines are not, so I dunno.

For Cannes? Red as the carpet.

After all, it was her Academy Awards debut, when she opted for a figure-hugging Baywatch-red gown, that put her on the fashion map.

What Margot Robbie was to pink last year, Jennifer Lawrence is to red right now.

The star, who is currently slated to play Ava Gardner opposite Leonardo DiCaprio’s Frank Sinatra in a biopic, recently opened up not about her style but about her beauty evolution, citing her new makeup artist as the architect of her red-carpet glam.

“It’s incredible what makeup can do because I work with Hung [Vanngo], who overlines the lip, and I call him a plastic surgeon, because everybody in the last few months since I’ve been working with him is convinced that I had eye surgery,” she said in a conversation with Kylie Jenner, adding, “I’m like, ‘I didn’t have eye surgery. I’m doing makeup.’”
