People are using the news to push malicious conspiracy theories.

This article references domestic abuse and murder.

“Who else came here to read the comments?” asks one Instagram user under Khloé Kardashian's latest post.

The Kardashians star posted a video of herself walking along the white sands of a beach in Turks and Caicos, where she's celebrating her 38th birthday with her family. But it wasn't the video's content that had people rushing to the comments section.

“Your real daddy OJ died! Sorry!”

“So sorry to hear about your dad passing due to cancer. I can't imagine what you're going through.”

“Sorry for the loss of your real father.”

Yesterday, the news broke that OJ Simpson died, aged 76, surrounded by family and friends after a battle with cancer. And instead of taking a moment to reflect, some decided to revive a debunked conspiracy theory that Simpson was Khloé Kardashian's biological father.

The disgraced NFL player was controversially acquitted of the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman in 1994. He was found liable for their deaths in a civil trial in 1997.

OJ Simpson was arrested on suspicion of murdering Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman.

Before Nicole's murder – she was found with her throat slit, having been stabbed seven times in her neck and head – she had been good family friends with Kris Kardashian (now Jenner), who was married to Robert Kardashian Sr from 1978 to 1991. They shared four children: Kourtney, Kim, Khloé, and Rob Jr.

Robert Kardashian Sr was part of Simpson's defence team during his ‘Trial of the Century’, which was one of the world's first televised criminal trials. Kris, meanwhile, was often seen sitting on Nicole's family's side of the courtroom and has since spoken out about the abuse Nicole endured at the hands of Simpson.

In the 2015 documentary The Secret Tapes of the O.J. Case: The Untold Story, Kris said: “The one thing [Nicole] would tell all of us by the time, you know, it got to that level was, 'He's going to kill me, and he's going to get away with it.'”

During an appearance on The E! True Hollywood Story in 2009, Khloé, who was 10 years old during the trial, said: “O.J. was always our Uncle O.J., Nicole was my Auntie Nicole… It's sad to see your parents go through so much pain for trying to be true friends.”

She later explicitly addressed the theories during an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians – unhelpfully titled "Who's Your Daddy?" – after Kris encouraged her to take a DNA test.

Khloé said, "Mom, I don’t care what they’re saying […] Seriously, my dad is Robert Kardashian. My other dad is [Caitlyn] Jenner. I don’t need someone to tell me who my family is. I have had the blessing of having two phenomenal fathers. I don’t need a DNA test to prove who my father is.”

In all likelihood, the news of Simpson's passing will be extremely traumatic for Kris Jenner as she reflects on Nicole's life and legacy. So please, let's give Kris and her family, especially Khloé, space to privately process the news.
