Consider us influenced.

When it comes to footwear, few celebrities have a more enviable repertoire than Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

With a laser-sharp eye for a truly great pair, Rosie has not only worn several shoes that instantly earned a spot on every fashion insider's wish list but she was also behind a super successful collaboration collection with footwear label Gia Couture.

A true accessory connoisseur, she's rarely photographed without a cult bag in hand and the season's hottest shoe on foot – but for her latest masterclass she switched things up somewhat. Quite literally…

Toting her latest favourite footwear in hand as if it were a clutch bag, many of Rosie's recent Instagram posts are making a particularly convincing case for what might just be the season's most divisive shoe trend.

Seemingly keen to show off the shoe's side profile, the pointed black slingback – which would appear entirely unassuming from the front – features a statement heel.

Almost sci-fi in silhouette, the curved gold-tone wedge heel which tapers into a cone-line tip is undoubtedly going to divide fans of Rosie's shoe wardrobe, but we can't help but love the unexpected twist on such a seemingly classic pump.

While Rosie's yet to reveal the shoe's designer – and the label behind it is yet to claim the style – those with their finger firmly on the fashion world's footwear pulse can't ignore the distinctive Bottega Veneta vibe they exude.

With a silhouette undoubtedly reminiscent of the brand's current beloved Rocket pump, do we think Rosie Huntington-Whiteley may have her hands on an early prototype for next season?

One thing's for sure, it looks like we can expect to see a lot of sculptural wedge heels coming our way for summer. Buckle up…
